Committed to making schools a safe and welcoming place for all.
We help students, teachers and our wider communities to understand what it really means to be seeking sanctuary.
Our mission is to extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of our school communities and to celebrate the contributions that they make.
We create and share resources for teachers, to promote empathy among children and young people, and to help them make sense of refugee migration.
Our volunteers have developed a wide range of lesson plans and classroom resources from Key Stage 1 to 4. Feel free to download them and make them your own!
There are currently 13 Schools of Sanctuary in Norfolk and over 360 schools have participated in our Day of Welcome since 2018
Interested in joining our network and becoming a School of Sanctuary?
We are here to help all those that are willing to contribute to Norfolk’s proud tradition as a place of safety, welcome and refuge. Whether you are a Headteacher of an infant school, a parent at a junior school, or a teaching assistant at a secondary school - any member of the school community can take the first step in their school’s journey to becoming a School of Sanctuary.
