Donate Items
The UK’s Ukrainian community have mobilised to coordinate donations of emergency items which are being shipped out to Eastern Europe. Join their Facebook group, Norfolk Supports Ukraine UK, or visit their new website to find out more.
Donate Funds
The Ukrainian government have said financial donations are the best way to support their efforts on the ground. Consider making a donation to the DEC or if you prefer to support refugees here in Norfolk, donate to The Norfolk Community Foundation.
Become a Host
Consider opening your home to a Ukrainian Refugee. People planning to host a Ukrainian family can find out more through another local Facebook page, Norwich hosts Ukrainian Refugees.
Write to your MP
The government’s controversial Nationality and Borders Bill is going through Parliament this month. There is still time to express your concerns and to show your support for the right for asylum-seekers and refugees to find safe routes to the UK to find sanctuary in Britain. The Bill criminalises asylum-seekers and could see them processed in off-shore detention centres.
Norwich City of Sanctuary is part of a coalition of charities which formed Together with Refugees in 2021, which continues to campaign for a kinder, fairer and more effective approach to supporting refugees in the UK.
Do you speak Ukrainian?
Norfolk County Council is looking for Ukrainian speakers to support them as they prepare for Ukrainian refugees to arrive in the county. If you speak Ukrainian and would like to help, please email Tanya Ingram at tanya.ingram@norfolk.gov.uk
Plant Sunflowers
Transform your street with sunflowers in a show of solidarity as sunflowers are the national flower of Ukraine.
